چکیده

We introduce a sweep-based hand shape adaptation algorithm to fit a generic sweep-based hand model to the shape of an individual’s hand, presented as a single photograph. The sweep trajectory curves of the generic hand model are modified to interpolate a sequence of keyframes determined by target features. Details of the real hand can be transferred to the model by adjusting its sweep displacement map. Palm lines are also acquired from sketches drawn on the photograph. The bespoke model inherits the fully animatable structure of the generic model. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our sweep-based approach using several examples of reconstructing animatable bespoke hand models. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Automatic Generation of Animatable 3D Personalized Model Based on Multi-view Images

We propose a fully-automatic 3D model generating method of individual people from multi-view images. An automatically constructed 3D model can be deformed and animated by controlling the joint. An animatable 3D personalized model of individual people is generated by transferring the joint-skeleton structure and appearance of a generic 3D human model to an individual 3D volumetric model reconstr...

Realistic human hand deformation

We present a new approach to realistic hand modeling and deformation with real-time performance. We model the underlying shape of a human hand by means of sweeps which follow a simplified skeleton. The resulting swept surfaces are blended, and an auxiliary surface is then bound to the swept representation in the palm region. In the areas of this palm-control surface where bulges occur in certai...

Designing, making and Evaluating an Ergonomic Pen to Increase User Comfort and Improve Posture of Hands, Wrists, and Fingers

Background and aim: Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are widespread around the world and are the second most common cause of disability in work settings. A number of occupational factors such as forceful exertions, awkward postures, repetitive movements, and local contact stress can lead to the development of musculoskeletal problems. There is an association between the use of hand tools and o...

An example-based approach to human body manipulation

We discuss a set of techniques based on examples for generating realistic, controllable human whole-body models. Users are assisted in automatically generating a new model or modifying an existing one by controlling the parameters provided. Our approach is based on examples and consists of three major parts. First, each example from the 3D range scanner is preprocessed so that the topology of a...

Realistic and animatable face models for expression simulations in 3D

In the face recognition problem, one of the most critical sources of variation is facial expression. This paper presents a system to overcome this issue by utilizing facial expression simulations on realistic and animatable face models that are in compliance with MPEG-4 specifications. In our system, firstly, 3D frontal face scans of the users in neutral expression and with closed mouth are tak...
